“So what are you doing?”
“Nothing. I’m unemployed.”
“School.”
“I dropped out of high school and then I dropped out of college.”
“Oh.”
“I play my guitar and sing at bars.”
“Does that pay?”
“Hardly. I live with my parents. I’ll get by.”
“Sounds risky.”
The young man turned to look the older man in the eye and after a thoughtful pause, said, “I can live with that.” The old man rolled his eyes and the youth picked up a beer and drank deeply, already drunk with the strength of his naive passion powers.
